Privacy Policy
Effective Date: June 1, 2025
Thank you for using Slick. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your data when you access our services. By using Slick, you agree to this policy.
We believe in simple, transparent, and privacy-focused data practices. We only collect what we need to improve search — and nothing more.
1. Who We Are
Slick is a search engine designed for users aged 13 and older. Our mission is to provide high-quality search results with as little data collection as possible. We do not collect personally identifiable information (PII), and we do not track users.
2. Who Can Use Slick
Slick is intended for individuals 13 years of age or older. We do not knowingly allow children under 13 to use our services, in compliance with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and similar global laws.
If we discover that a user under 13 has used our service in violation of this policy, we will delete any related data promptly — though we intentionally collect minimal information to begin with.
3. What Data We Collect
We collect only two types of data:
- Search Queries: Helps improve relevance, autocomplete, and fix bugs. Not associated with personal identifiers.
- Click Data: Records clicks on URLs for performance measurement. No personal tracking involved.
4. What We Do Not Collect
Slick is designed to operate without collecting personal or sensitive information. We do not collect:
- Names, emails, phone numbers, or addresses
- IP addresses or geolocation
- Browser fingerprints or device identifiers
- Persistent cookies or session tracking
- Behavioral or demographic data
- Clickstream history or referrer logs
5. How We Use the Data
We use the minimal data we collect solely to:
- Improve search accuracy and speed
- Monitor performance and prevent abuse
- Provide simple traffic data to verified site owners
- Analyze ad engagement in a privacy-friendly way
6. Data Storage and Retention
All data is stored securely on encrypted servers. We:
- Do not store identifying metadata
- Periodically delete or aggregate older data
- Limit internal access to query and click logs
7. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
Slick does not use cookies, fingerprinting, or other tracking mechanisms. Temporary cookies may be used only for technical functionality and are:
- Session-based
- Anonymous
- Not linked to personal data
8. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell or share your data with:
- Advertisers
- Analytics providers
- Government agencies (unless legally required)
Aggregate, non-identifiable data may be shared with registered Search Console users.
9. Your Rights
If you're in a region with data protection laws, you may have the right to:
- Request access to any data we have
- Request deletion of that data
- Object to data collection
- File a complaint with a data authority
10. Third-Party Links
Slick may show links to external websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those websites. Please review their privacy policies independently.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy occasionally to reflect new features, legal requirements, or improvements in our platform. Updates will be noted by the revised “Effective Date” at the top of this page.
