Your Privacy Matters
Slick doesn't track you. No profiling, no ads based on your searches, no data sold. Here's exactly what we do and don't collect.
Privacy Policy
Effective Date: June 1, 2025
This policy explains what data Slick collects, why, and how we handle it. We only collect the absolute minimum needed to operate the service, and nothing that can identify you personally.
1. Who We Are
Slick is an independent search engine built for people who don't want to be tracked. We do not collect personal information, and we do not follow you around the web.
2. Who Can Use Slick
Slick is for users 13 and older. We do not knowingly allow anyone under 13 to use the service, in accordance with COPPA and similar laws.
Because we collect almost no personal data, there is little to delete if someone under 13 uses the service. Any relevant data would be promptly removed.
3. What Data We Collect
We collect only the following:
- Click Data: A single number representing clicks on search results, used to monitor search performance. This data is not linked to any individual or device.
4. What We Don't Collect
We do not collect personal information or data that can identify you. Specifically, we do not collect:
- Names, emails, phone numbers, or addresses
- IP addresses or location data
- Browser fingerprints or device IDs
- Persistent cookies or session tracking
- Behavioral or demographic data
- Clickstream history or referrer logs
- Search queries are not stored in any personally identifiable form
5. How We Use the Data
The limited data we do collect is used only to:
- Monitor search performance and ensure results are working correctly
- Provide aggregate, privacy-safe statistics to verified site owners
- Measure ad clicks in a privacy-safe way. Ad clicks go through our servers first, so advertisers only receive regional-level data and cannot identify users.
We process this limited data under legitimate interest to operate and improve the service.
6. Data Storage and Retention
- No personal data is ever collected or stored.
- Click data is stored only as a single anonymized number and cannot be linked to any individual.
- Search queries are not stored in any personally identifiable form.
- IP addresses are not stored or linked to user activity. Any temporary IP information used for server processing or regional ad delivery cannot be associated with users.
7. Cookies and Tracking
Slick does not use cookies or fingerprinting to track users. Any temporary cookies are:
- Session-only
- Anonymous
- Not linked to personal data
8. Data Sharing
We do not sell or share any personal data. Specifically, we do not share data with:
- Advertisers
- Analytics companies
- Government agencies, except as legally required
Aggregate, anonymized data may be shared with registered Search Console users.
9. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- See whatever data we have on you (which is limited to anonymized click numbers)
- Request deletion (any personally identifiable data is never collected)
- Object to data usage
- File a complaint with a data protection authority
10. Third-Party Links
Slick may show links to external websites. We are not responsible for how those sites handle your data. Please review their privacy policies if relevant.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Effective Date” at the top will reflect the most recent version.
